The Northshore Kiwanis Club is a chapter of Kiwanis International, a worldwide service organization for individuals desiring personal involvement in the leadership and improvement of their communities. Kiwanis is an organization devoted to advancement of individual community, and national welfare; and to the strengthening of international goodwill. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things happen. Our motto, and cornerstone of Kiwanis, is "We Build."
The name Kiwanis was adapted from the expression "NuncKee-Wanis" in the Otchipew (Native American) language meaning, "We have a good time." or "We make noise." Kiwanis was founded in 1915 in the city of Detroit, MI. The Northshore chapter was chartered in 1986.
